IIT JAM Counselling 2024: Registration, Fees, Eligibility

IIT JAM Counselling is a process through which a candidate understands their rank and position in the admission process in IIT, NITs and IISc. The details of this counselling are discussed below briefly.

IIT JAM Counselling 2024 Overview

The counselling is done based on the rank the candidate has acquired in their IIT JAM Examination, 2024. This year the date for the application of counselling is until 29th April 2024, up to 5 pm.

This is an opportunity for the candidates to secure their seats in their preferred IIT. The first list of eligible candidates will be released on 31st May.

About CCMN for JAM Counselling

CCMN is an authority that conducts the whole counselling process in online mode, and 22 institutes participate in that counselling process, which is conducted for those candidates who qualified the IIT JAM exam. They can register themselves by visiting the official website of CCMN.

The offered programmes are M.Sc./M.Tech, and the whole counselling process is conducted by NIT. The CCMN 2024 will be conducted by Sardar Vallabhai National Institute Of Technology, Surat. The total number of seats offered is 2447.

CCMN will not be responsible for any due payments or non-paid registration fees applications regarding the offline mode payments which will result in rejection of the application.

After the publication of the admission list of round 1, round 2 will be conducted, and all the information will be provided on the official websites and also given in the respective Email Ids of the students.

The candidate appearing for the counselling must have the required documents and keep in mind all the eligibility criteria before appearing for the counselling process.

After the declaration of the IIT JAM examination results, the qualified candidates will have to apply for counselling to freeze their seats.

After the deadline is over, no applications will be considered, and also the due payment applications will be rejected.

CCMN will not be responsible for the fees which are paid after the due date.

The E-Challan will be generated on the official website of CCMN after the registration, and the fee is to be paid in ICICI Bank for the candidates doing offline payment. If the payment is not done after the registration, the application will not be considered.

IIT JAM Counselling Eligibility Criteria

The students pursuing a degree BA/B.Sc./BCA/BTECH/any other bachelor’s degrees from a recognized university.

The eligibility criteria of IIT JAM counselling process include those candidates who have completed their bachelor’s degree or are currently in their final year of their bachelor’s degree and have qualified the IIT JAM examination in their respective subjects and have qualified their bachelor’s examination with 6.5 CGPA/60% marks for the General Category and for the Reserved Category it is 6 CGPA/55% marks.

Several documents are required for verification at the time of the counselling process, which include:

  1. Birth certificates
  2. The mark sheets along with the pass certificates of class 10 board examination, class 12th board examination, and also for the bachelor’s degree examination.
  3. The scorecard of the IIT JAM examination.
  4. Government-issued photo-identity proof (Aadhar/voter/pan card/passport)
  5. Transfer certificate from college/university.
  6. Character certificate
  7. The person with disability PwD certificate (if applicable)
  8. Caste certificate (if applicable)
  9. Medical fit certificate from the Government hospital

Rounds in CCMN JAM Counselling

There are two special rounds for the Candidates who have not been able to join the regular three rounds for some reasons. The NSR round is for the National Sports Round Counselling for the candidate belonging to the sports quota.

After the process of counselling, the selected candidates are generated a payment link or the seat booking. This also includes three zones; they can accept and freeze their seats or they can accept and upgrade their seats or they can quit their seats during the counselling process.

JAM Counselling for NIT Colleges

CCMN (Centralized Common Counselling) for M.Sc. is a nationalized worldwide process which is conducted for seat allocation after qualifying the JAM Examination.

This year in 2024, the CCMN counselling process will be conducted by the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Institute of Technology, Surat.

The cut-off for JAM score in NIT was 26-29. In case of NIT also the same process includes, as of the IITs through the cut-offs of NIT is much lower than that of the IITs.

Firstly, the candidates will have to visit the official website of CCMN for the registration process after qualifying the JAM examination and have to pay the registration fees, and then the selection rounds will begin, and the selected candidates’ names will be given in the admission list generated after every round of counselling.

The documents required for this process of counselling regarding verification are the same as IITs, which include, Birth certificates, pass certificates of class 10, 12, and bachelor’s degree, the photo-ID proof (Aadhar card/pan card/voter card/passport), the scorecard for the JAM examination, transfer certificate from college followed by the conduct certificate, and also a medical fit certificate from the government hospital.

The caste certificates and the PwD certificates will be required as per the applicability. The registration fees Rs. 750 are charged for this whole process, which is non-refundable, and for the seat booking, the candidates will have to pay. The seat allocation fees will be separately charged for the selected candidates.

The eligibility criteria will also include 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks in the Bachelor’s examination for the general category and for the reserved category it’s 6 CGPA/ 55% marks in bachelor’s degree.
