The IIT JAM 2023 examination will always be a tough one. In the slot 1 exam, you have to appear between 9 am to 12 pm. It was held for three subjects that include Biotechnology, Mathematical Statistics, and Physics.
Students have always said that the level of difficulty was alright. It was not that easy or too hard to attend. The structure and the pattern of the questions asked were almost as expected on the lines of the mock tests.
Most of the topics were covered. So, for example, if you wrote Physics, then you would have to appear for Quantum Physics, Nuclear Physics, Mechanics, Thermodynamics, and Electromagnetic Theory, etc.
You had to appear for Biology, General Reasoning, and Microscopy in the Biotechnology subject. Finally, the Mathematical Statistics subject came with topics including Classical Probability and Testing of Hypotheses.
The slot 2 of the examination was based on four subjects, including Geology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Economics. Every year, there seems to be an increase in the number of students for Mathematics and Chemistry.
The level of difficulty on these papers are alright. They are quite expected, and if you prepared well, then it could have been easy. The topics from Chemistry were Physical Chemistry, Organic, and Inorganic. In Mathematics, you could find topics including Variables, Partial Differential Equations, Calculus, Group Theory, Linear Algebra, and others.
Most of the questions were taken from the chapter Linear Algebra. In addition, in the subject Economics, you could find topics from Mathematics and Statistics, and Macro and Microeconomics.

Here is how you need to apply for the admission process.
The IIT JAM 2023 exam will be held throughout India in more than 100 exam centres. The science entrance exam was held in cities divided into eight zones. This way, they ensured that they are at least one IIT JAM exam centre in one city.
Your exam centre will be mentioned on your admit card. So, please check them carefully and always have extra copies of them. You will be glad to know that this year onwards, 2023, two new additional exam centres were announced in Haldwani & Port Blair.
When you are filling up the online application form, you can choose up to 3 exam centres. Usually, the first two exam centres are located in the same zone. In that case, you can choose the third exam centre from anywhere in the country.
Along with the exam notification, the zone-wise list of IIT JAM exam centres 2023 was released by IIT Roorkee. The IIT JAM 2023 was held in 103 exam centres that are spread all over the country.
The IIT JAM 2023 exam pattern was the same as the previous years. There were no changes in that. It is a good thing. The computer-based test is 3 hours in duration. It is conducted in two slots.
You can find that the number of questions is 60 in total for 100 marks. Besides, you can see that there are 3 kinds of questions. They include Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions (MSQs), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT).
Unfortunately, you have a negative marking scheme in this exam. So, you must be careful when answering the questions. So, for every wrong answer, you stand to lose marks. Therefore, it would be best to leave out those questions whose answers you are not sure of.
It goes without saying that the IIT JAM is a highly competitive entrance exam. You have to prepare well to ensure that you can get through the exam and subsequently get admitted. There is a limited number of seats, and the competition is quite high.
The best way to crack the exam would be to plan well in advance. For example, you might want to understand the syllabus and the pattern of the question papers. This would be the ideal method to manage the exam confidently.
Besides, you will want to prepare using the right kind of material. This helps you a lot along with the earlier year’s question papers, taking some mock tests, and also attending the several practice tests.
Some of the preparation tips by IIT JAM toppers are as follows:

Like everything, the IIT JAM comes with its own weak points. In this sense, you need to have prepared well for the exam. Besides, you must know the format and have proper utilization of the time.
This way, you can get high marks on the IIT JAM exam. However, the questions are quite difficult, and most students have an issue answering them the first time. Besides, the selection ratio of the examination is also quite low.
The IIT JAM 2023 will be conducted for seven subjects as follows:
